You know, 2 years ago I would have said many of the same things about American football. Oddly enough, today it is one of my favorite sports; and I don't even LIKE sports! And I'm not even American! :)

You're absolutely right that it is a sport that's filled with rules. But that's actually one of the strong points of the game. I personally don't like watching basketball, as an example, because of the breakneck pace. There is no stopping. It's just a constant running back and forth. It makes my eyes hurt. :)

American football, on the other hand, is more like a chess game. Every move is very carefully planned out. I guess that the precision of the game and the rules just really appeals to me because I'm a programmer. There either WERE or WERE NOT 12 men on the field during a play. There is no in-between. Imagine if computers had a maybe response!

if (incomingMissile == true) {
 orderEvacuations();
} else {
 orderPizza();
}

And the computer's response? Well, there "MAY BE an incoming missile. Depends on what you mean by incoming. See, it's kind of headed in this direction, but it's still on its upward arc, so it's not really INCOMING per se, though it might head back down later, so I'm not really sure."

Being an American myself, I'd like to see a post on Soccer (or I suppose I'd call it "International Football" as opposed to "Non-American Football").

The game was good, the commercials were horrible... I don't mind the camera angles. Also, the rules are part of the game... it's how you play. It's supposed to be confusing (just like Red and Yellow Cards in Soccer ... what does a CARD have to do with the game? And they "give the player the card" but the referee keeps it??? Does he pick it up from him after the game?).
