Hi.
I have nx6110. Once I tried to put in it ipw2200, but without success. Then I found solution for that card. I pached it and all worked ok. But there is better solution - patch for laptop's BIOS. I dumped my laptop's BIOS (uniflash utility), but I don't know how to write it back (moddificed, uniflash can't do that). Yes, it's risky solution, but I want to try. Maybe someone can help me? If so, please contact me.

Hi Aigarius,

thanks a lot. I found out that this option is only available if you got a hp accepted card. if you doing tricks like inserting a not hp supported card after bios check then you don't get a chance to get rid of the kill switch probleme.

in BIOS version 1.10 it was Advanced->Device options->Embedded WLAN Device Radio
Linux draiver complains about the 'hardware kill switch' when that option is disabled. Also try pressing the wifi button as that is the second "kill switch".

I think you could try asking Martin (http://stachon.webpark.cz/) as he was the one who wrote the patch above. I only documented the procedure that I had to go trough.

It works, thank you for the info!

Can You make this method with intel 2100 and/or 2945 cards also?
I tried, but I couldn't find a patched driver for these cards to write their eeproms. And I'm not that good in linux to complie drivers myself :(
